III INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL CINEMA OF SIBERIA “SILICON”

The III International Festival of Scientific and Industrial Cinema of Siberia “Silicon” will take place in August 2024 in Novosibirsk.

The symbol for Silicon, or Siliconium, is “Si”. Silicon is the 14th element in Mendeleev’s Periodic Table. “Si” is more than just an abbreviation for the festival of scientific and industrial cinema; it also signifies the scientific aspect of the event. Silicon is used to make glass, cement, and bricks, which represents the festival’s industrial component.

Applications for the “Scientific Cinema of Siberia” competition program are now being accepted by the festival. From July 10 to August 12, 2024, inclusive, applications will be accepted. The competition is intended to showcase to a general audience the best documentary and animated films on popular science and industrial themes produced in Siberia and the Far East, as well as foster interest in scientific cinema and identify its development potential.

In the documentary film genre, both amateur and professional filmmakers are welcome to enter the competition.
Films from the following categories are suitable for participation in the competition:
— full-length popular science film
— short-length popular science film
— full-length industrial film
— short-length industrial film
— animated/experimental popular science and industrial films
— films made with artificial intelligence technologies: popular and industrial science films.
