The film is being produced by LEGIO FELIX movie company with support from the Cinema Fund, the Ministry of Culture, and the Krasnoyarsk Krai Film Commission, with consulting and informational assistance from Yenisei Kino.
The film was directed by Mikhail Merzlikin, the director of the «Shaman» thriller, and one of the general producers is Vladimir Permyakov from Krasnoyarsk.
The plot unfolds during Maslenitsa week. Polina dreams of studying abroad. Her chance is to introduce a Chinese student to Russian traditions at a Maslenitsa fair. But when she breaks her leg, she sends her friend Olya, who doesn’t speak Chinese, in her place. Meanwhile, the children try to arrange their grandfather’s personal life, but the adults don’t support their plans. Maslenitsa will melt the ice in our hearts and remind us that spring begins with the warmth of the human heart.
Filming took place in famous landmarks in Krasnoyarsk: Tatyshev Island, the Kamenka art residence, the Kommunalny Bridge, the Krasnoyarsk Airport, and other locations. A fairground was specially built for the film on Tatyshev Island. More than 400 Krasnoyarsk crowd artists and about 250 professional performers participated in the project.
The “Maslenitsa” children’s and family comedy will be released on March 8, 2027, on the eve of the vibrant Maslenitsa holiday.
