The results of the IV International Forum of Film Producers have been summed up
From June 2 to 5, the city of Krasnoyarsk confirmed once again its status as a key platform for the dialogue of cinematographers, bringing together leading producers from Russia and abroad at the IV International Film Producers Forum. This year, which was declared the cross-cultural Year of Russia and China, a delegation from China arrived for the first time on an official visit.
The forum was organized by the Regional State Autonomous Cultural Institution (KGAUK) «Yenisey Kino» with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The partners of the event were: the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the Association of Film and Television Producers (APKiT), the Foundation for the Support of Regional Cinema and the production center «MovieStart».
The main purpose of the Forum was to stimulate the development of the film industry in the Krasnoyarsk Region and attract third–party film companies to film production in the region, as well as exchange of experience.
Over the course of four days, more than 20 events took place in Krasnoyarsk, Divnogorsk, Kansk and Minusinsk: film screenings, workshops, location tours and business meetings, which brought together 1,400 participants.
Arkady Zinov, Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region, emphasized the importance of such projects for the region.
«Our region has a good base to implement high-quality film projects, and I am glad that we continue to develop this direction. The Forum allows us to attract new creative forces to the hospitable Siberian land and cultivate our own talents in the field of cinematography.»
The guests appreciated the locations of the region, from «Stolby» and Ovsyanka to the Siberian Federal University campus, and also got acquainted with the technical base of «Yenisey Kino»: a cinema crane with Makeup Trailers, a dubbing studio and the only film scanner in the Siberian Federal District.
As part of the educational content of the Forum, the invited producers conducted a master class for teenagers «Presentation of film projects».
There was also a creative meeting between producer Vladimir Golovnev and students of the College of Services and Entrepreneurship specializing in Film and Television Production. The dialogue was practical and professional, during which Vladimir shared his rich experience, opening up new horizons for students in their profession.
During the 4 days of work, the guests of the Forum shared their opinion that the region has a great future in terms of film production development. At the final discussion session «Film Production plans in 2026-2028», 7 agreements were signed between «Yenisey Kino» and film companies on cooperation in the development of cinematography in the Krasnoyarsk Region.
Teymur Jafarov, General Producer and founder of the film studio «Team Films», shared his impressions of the creative meeting with Krasnoyarsk residents and the work of the Forum:
«»If you look at the locations and nature, Krasnoyarsk is a wonderful region! We just need to tighten up the business base in terms of the form of technical support, and everything will be very good!»
Vadim Byrkin, the General Producer of the Nota Bene company, told what, in his opinion, attracts film producers in the Region:
«Nature stands up for you, they will go to it. And they’re already on their way! You have to make sure that people feel comfortable working.»
Producer, director, founder of «China International Film & Media» Dmitry Liu (Liu Xuan) shared his impressions about the prospects of the region as a filming location for international projects:
«You need to attract by the wonderful nature and beautiful views, because this is probably the most striking feature of the region. Before the trip, I started reading about the Krasnoyarsk Region on the Internet and looking at photos. And I wanted to come here faster!»
Vladimir Golovnev, producer, screenwriter, film director, General Director of Igra Film Company, shared his thoughts on the development of cinematography in the region:
«Regional rather than metropolitan filmmaking is just a huge trend right now! A huge trend that cannot be ignored. Even 10-20 years ago, it was absurd to talk about regional cinema. And now regional cinema is gaining a new momentum. It’s so fresh now that I have a feeling that the main stories, the main energy of cinema is not in Moscow, but in regions where cinematographers have not reached before.»
A film project competition (pitching) was held as part of the forum. 98 applications were submitted from 26 cities, including Yerevan and Budapest. Of these, there are 77 applications for feature films and 21 applications for documentaries.
In the Documentary film category, the winner was the project «Lapta — the Story of the Renaissance» directed by Ivan Voloshin and received a cash prize of 500 thousand rubles for the production of the film.
