The IV International Film Producers Forum

The IV International Film Producers Forum will be held in the Krasnoyarsk region from 2 to 5 June 2025.

Provider: Regional State Autonomous Cultural Institution «Yenisey Kino»

Partners: The Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the Association of Film and Television Producers (APKiT), the Foundation for the Support of Regional Cinema and the production center «Moviestart».

The main purpose of the Forum is to stimulate the development of the film industry in the Krasnoyarsk Region and attract third–party film companies to film production in the region.

Sharing experiences will help participants build effective partnerships and unite everyone invested in advancing the region’s cinematography.

The Forum program includes creative meetings and master classes with Forum participants, film screenings for residents of Krasnoyarsk, Kansk, Minusinsk, Divnogorsk; discussion platforms with Forum participants and representatives of cinematography organizations of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

The Forum will be attended by 18 producers of Russian and foreign film companies planning to organize filming in the Krasnoyarsk Region. This year, which is one of the two cross-cultural Years of Russia and China (2024-2025), a delegation from China will take part in the Forum for the first time.

A number of business events are expected to be held within the framework of the Forum: a discussion session «Film production plans for 2026-2028», a round table «Development of the film production resource base in the Krasnoyarsk Region», a business meeting with film producers of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

Production tours will also be held as part of the business program. They include an introduction to urban, industrial, natural, cultural and historical locations.

In addition to the business program, the following film screenings will be held at the Forum:

— «Legends of our Ancestors» (dir. Ivan Sosnin, 2025, 102 min.);

— «Summer Will Come» (dir. Kirill Sultanov, 2024, 110 min.);

— «Long Shot» (dir. V. Golovnev, 2021, 67 min.);

— collection of films supported by the Regional Cinematography Support Fund (FPRK): «Carved from cedar» (dir. S. Kolesnikov, 2024, 23 min., 12+), «Square peg in a round hole» (dir. Margarita Volkova, 2024, 23 min., 6+), «Siberian guild: Contemporary Art» (dir. V. Boturov, 2022, 21 min., 12+).

A pitching of film projects will take place on June 5 as part of the IV International Forum of Film Producers in the Krasnoyarsk Region.

An expert jury will determine the winners in two categories of feature films – fiction films and documentaries. The best projects will be recommended for funding and will receive support from the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region: 1,000,000 rubles in the Fiction Film category and 500,000 rubles in the Documentary film category. The main condition is that the filming of the winning projects must take place on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

There will also be presentations of the winning films of the pitching, which took place in 2024 as part of the III International Forum of Film Producers in the Krasnoyarsk Region. In the Documentary film category, the film «The Main Role» directed by Anastasia Shkitina won. The Winner in the Fiction Film category was the film «About the Cow» directed by Nikolai Alekseev and Anton Simukhin. This film represented our country in the short film competition of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival.

On June 3, the second children’s pitching of film projects will take place. Teenagers aged 12-18 will try their hand at the film industry. Short feature film projects will compete for the prize – three shooting days with equipment from Yenisei Cinema. Visiting film industry experts will appreciate the originality, relevance of the idea and the project’s readiness for implementation.

19:00 – presentation of the winning projects of the 2024 pitching. In the category «Documentary» – the film «The Main role» (dir. Anastasia Shkitina, 2024, 90 min., 18+).

A documentary film about Russia’s only professional rural theater, the Motygino Drama Theater. The film tells about the life of the actors who came to the heart of the taiga from all over the country: from Sakhalin to Krasnodar. They abandoned life in well-maintained big cities, the warm climate and developed infrastructure for the sake of art, in order to give it to residents of remote towns and villages.

 In the Fiction Film category – «About the Cow» (dir. Nikolay Alekseev, Anton Simukhin, 2024, 26 min., 12+).

The film revolves around the unlucky Muscovite Snezhana, who comes to the village to bury her stepfather in order to inherit his house. But she has is no money for the funeral, so she decides to sell the cow.

19:00 – screening of the fiction film «Legends of our Ancestors» (dir. Ivan Sosnin, 2025, 102 min.). The film is presented by producer Anton Smetanin.

A reporter from Yekaterinburg, on the instructions of the editorial board, finds himself in a village lost in the taiga, where he hears an ancient legend about the lord of the forest. Upon returning home, he suddenly begins to see and hear this ancient spirit, who asks to save the disappearing fantastic creatures. The journalist agrees, and together with his 12-year-old daughter, who came to him on vacation from Moscow, he goes to a region almost untouched by civilization.

The film is presented by director Vladimir Golovnev, producer, screenwriter, film director, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, General Director of the Igra Film Company (films: «Made by Hands» (2022), «Long Shot» (2021), «Dostoevsky. Siberian Copybook» (2020) and others).

Since 2015, modern 3D cinemas have been opening in small towns and villages in Russia. These are several stories from different regions of the country about how cinema has come to save the inhabitants of the hinterland from loneliness, abandonment, alcoholism and isolation. Live observation of how cinema changes lives, and life turns into a movie.

19:00 – screening of the feature-length fiction film «Summer Will Come» (dir. Kirill Sultanov, 2024, 110 min.). An ambitious debut in black and white will captivate the viewer with beautiful shots. Starring our Russian Timothy Chalamet – Mark Edelstein («One Hundred years Ahead», 2024). The film is presented by producer Polina Schlicht, producer of Monumental Vision, CEO of Monumental Pictures (films: «Tour with Ivanushki International»(2024). «Summer Will Come» (2024), «Row 19» (2021), etc.).

Nikita, an orphanage resident, flees from justice to Moscow, where he meets Dan, a rich orphan who offers Nikita a ticket to a better life in exchange for friendship with him. Nikita agrees, not realizing what price he will have to pay for it.

         On November 24, 2022, the Law «On State Support for Cinematography in Krasnoyarsk Region» was adopted. This law provides for: subsidies for financial reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the production of national films (parts of national films) in the territory of the region; subsidies for the production of anniversary films; subsidies for the production of chronicles of the Krasnoyarsk Region; subsidies for the production and rental of the film magazine «Yenisei Meridian»; a grant to support documentary cinematography; information and advisory support to cinematography organizations.

Over the past three years, more than fifteen fiction films and TV series («Krasny Yar», «Nevsky», «First Division», «The Magnificent Five», «New Year’s Letter», «Ronin», «Grandpa», and others) and more than 30 documentaries have been shot in the region.

In three years, 228 roles were performed by professional actors, 1072 roles were performed by actors of mass scenes, 131 film production specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Region took part in the filming.

Currently, filming of the second season of the multi-part fiction film «Ronin» is continuing in the Krasnoyarsk Region in the vicinity of the city of Divnogorsk and the village of Ust-Mana. A number of projects are also planned for autumn 2025.
