The IV International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" announces the start of accepting applications
The IV International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» is currently accepting applications. It will take place in five settlements within the Krasnoyarsk Territory from May 18 to 22, 2026: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Uyar, Divnogorsk, and the village of Kuragino.
The founder of the festival is the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The organizer is KGAUK «Yenisei Kino».
In addition to being a film festival, the IV International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» is a comprehensive cultural effort designed to instill strong moral and spiritual values in the next generation. This is a dynamic forum for contemplation and dialogue on such significant principles as citizenship, mercy, patriotism, and respect for family and customs.
The festival program includes:
- Screening of full-length and short films: feature, animated, and documentary
- Master classes and creative meetings with filmmakers
- Lectures for children and teenagers
- Business program events with representatives of the film industry
Cinemas, libraries, and cultural centers of the region will become official venues of the Film Festival, receiving an exclusive opportunity to show selected competition films as part of this large-scale event. Most of the competition’s full-length films will be presented by the filmmakers in person. Guests and viewers will have a unique opportunity to see the premiere films of professional filmmakers.
All events within the festival are absolutely free.
The competition accepts works of professional filmmakers.

For children and adolescents, there is a special children’s nomination, «Who is your hero?,» for participants from 8 to 17 years old inclusive.

The film festival traces its history back to 2018, when it was held in the All-Russian format. The status of an international festival was assigned to the festival in 2020.
The II International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» was held from May 19 to 23, 2022, in five settlements of the region: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Divnogorsk, Uzhur, and Aban.
The III International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» was held from May 20 to 24, 2024, in five settlements of the region: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Zelenogorsk, Nazarovo, and Balakhta.
From March 26 to 30, 2025, the intermediate stage of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» was held: film school. There was a free film intensive for youths in Krasnoyarsk, and the top films from the 2024 film festival were shown at the local theaters. Over the course of five days, participants shot instructional films and studied the fundamentals of acting, producing, camera work, and the nuances of getting accepted into film schools.
After the end of the film festival «Hero», the Echo of the International Festival traditionally starts—selected films are shown in cinemas throughout the Krasnoyarsk Territory from May 23 to June 30, 2026.
