The "Days of Documentary Cinema of Krasnoyarsk region" ended in Moscow

From March 12 to 14, 2025, the «Days of Documentary Cinema of Krasnoyarsk region» were held in Moscow. The event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the KGAUK “Yenisei Kino”.

The partners of the event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Krasnoyarsk region, were the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, the Russian Geographical Society, and the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov.

The uniqueness of this year is that for the first time the Moscow public was presented with the film magazine «Yenisei Meridian». In addition, the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov became a new platform for the presentation of documentaries.

The screenings began on March 12 in the Moscow Lecture Hall of the Russian Geographical Society with a demonstration of a collection of stories from the film magazine «Yenisei Meridian» which was presented by Irina Belova, CEO of the KGAUK “Yenisei Kino”, Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, Honored Worker of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region; and Vasily Builov, film director of the cinema chronicle department of the KGAUK “Yenisei Kino”. Viewers learned about the Krasnoyarsk region’s distinctive nature, riches, and originality through the film crew’s stories, as well as about events, phenomena, technology, and the region’s greatest value — its citizens.

The event’s program resumed on March 13 at S.A. Gerasimov All-Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK). The film «Bless Andrey!» was shown. Nikolai Bem, the director, screenwriter, and producer, introduced the picture. According to him, the narrative of an Alaskan Old Believer who traveled to Krasnoyarsk to create icons has been encapsulated in a film about a person’s homeland, sentiments, and dreams.

On March 14, at the conclusion of the «Days of Documentary Film of Krasnoyarsk region» in Moscow, the final screening of the film «Choice» took place at VGIK. This is a collaborative film project between Krasnoyarsk filmmaker Alexander Kalashnikov and Mikhail Tarkovsky, who wrote the narrative and co-directed the film. The film was introduced by director Alexander Kalashnikov and camera operator Mikhail Burov.

Following the screenings, creative discussions with the film’s creators were conducted. The audience showed great interest and asked many questions to learn more about the process of making the works.

The «Days of Documentary Film of Krasnoyarsk region» in Moscow will continue next year. Viewers and visitors to Moscow will be able to immerse themselves in Krasnoyarsk region cultural traditions.
