World premiere of a film shot in the Krasnoyarsk Region in the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) competition program!

The 48th Moscow International Film Festival, one of the oldest in the world, opens on April 16, 2026. Pavel Ivanov’s “Father” will represent Russia in the MIFF’s main feature film competition. Some scenes were filmed in the village of Bolshaya Rechka in the Ermakovsky District of Krasnoyarsk Region.

The Film Festival covers 43 countries. This year, approximately 200 films are participating in the festival, including 19 world and international premieres and 96 Russian premieres.

Over 1,500 applications were submitted for the competition. Thirteen projects were shortlisted for the main competition. The International Competition will feature the premieres of two Russian projects: Pavel Ivanov’s war drama “Father” and Anton Bilzho’s “Vygotsky”.

The story unfolds during the Great Patriotic War. Siberian hunter Gavriil Sobinov goes to the front lines to find his missing son. As he becomes the leader of a snipers’ group, he encounters German sniper Werner Juelenborg — a father also searching for his child during the war. Their confrontation is inevitable.

The Yenisei Cinema team congratulates colleagues, wishes creative success, and is very proud that the multifaceted and captivating nature of Krasnoyarsk Region increasingly appears on the big screen.
