In the Footsteps of “Krasny Yar”: A Walking Tour of the Filming Locations of the Series on the “Film Map of Russia”
Residents and visitors to the Krasnoyarsk Region can explore the locations where the historical drama “Krasny Yar” was filmed. This unique route is one of 15 film tours included in the “Film Map of Russia” project. This self-guided walk lets you see the city through the lens of cinema: familiar streets and landmarks take on new meaning as they become part the on-screen story.
The walk begins at the “Ploshchad Mira (Mira Square)” Museum Center, from where the route runs along the Yenisei River embankment—a picturesque location that has appeared on screen many times. The next stop is the house where the main character, Viktor (played by Makar Zaporozhsky), lived in the film. The route then passes through iconic cultural sites:
The Vasily Surikov Estate-Museum —a place that allows one to deeply experience the historical context and atmosphere of old Krasnoyarsk, resonating with the spirit of the series.
The Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel is one of the city’s symbols, a recognizable image that seamlessly blends into the visual style of “Krasny Yar”.
The historic quarter of Krasnoyarsk—the home of merchant Plakhov, played by Krasnoyarsk actor and director Artyom Rudoy—was located here. In this area, it’s particularly noticeable how real urban landscapes became full-fledged “characters” of the series.
In addition to the main route through Krasnoyarsk, the Film Map also highlights other important locations associated with filming: Divnogorsk and the Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park. This allows for an extended journey and the opportunity to see how the region’s nature and architecture contributed to the series’ image. The “Kinokarta Rossii” (Film Map of Russia) already features over 90 geographic locations associated with film and TV series filming in Krasnoyarsk Region. For user convenience, routes are available in various formats, including a walking route that allows you to combine exploring film locations with a tour of historical and modern landmarks.
