Filming of the popular science film "The Hard Life of Nya" has begun in Krasnoyarsk region

The Russian Ministry of Culture is assisting the Moscow-based ART-N film business in producing the project. Olesya Korepanova is the director of the movie.

The dwindling Nganasan people, whose way of life now directly depends on the delicate balance of the Arctic ecosystem, and industrial titans are trying to establish a balance.

The movie is more about conversation and a shared endeavor to live than it is about the never-ending battle with the environment. It is about how decisions regarding Taimyr’s future are made on a daily basis—at the machine and around the campfire—rather than at rallies.

«We want to create a film about the quest for harmony between an industrial behemoth and an old minority people, not merely a popular science movie. It will be dramatic, meaningful, and honest. Director Olesya Korepanova observes, «This is not a story about confrontation, but about a complex and necessary dialogue on which the future of both the Nganasans and the region depends.»

The film will be shot in key locations in the Krasnoyarsk region: the Putorana Plateau, the village of Ust-Avam, Dudinka, Norilsk, and Moscow.
