Filming of the documentary “With Your Own Hands” has begun in Krasnoyarsk Region

A film about a man who created over 50 iconostases for Siberian churches.

Filming of the documentary “With Your Own Hands” about a master cabinetmaker from Achinsk has begun in Krasnoyarsk Region. The film was directed and produced by Anton Kiselev.

The film’s protagonist is Yuri Duzhenkov, a master craftsman who has created over fifty carved and gilded iconostases for churches in the Krasnoyarsk Region over many years. Despite the scale of his work, he avoids publicity and rarely talks about himself.

The filmmakers aim to showcase not only his craft but also the man for whom labor, responsibility, and dedication to his craft matter more than recognition.

Filming will take place in the filmmaker’s workshop, in churches in the Krasnoyarsk Region, and in places where his work has become part of church life. The film will reveal the entire process of creating an iconostasis— from raw timber to the moment the finished piece is installed in a church.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.

Filming of “With Your Own Hands” is scheduled to be completed in 2027. We’re awaiting the film’s release and following the creative process
