The "My Grandfather" family picture filmed in the Krasnoyarsk region will be released on February 26

The film was produced with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture, and the Krasnoyarsk Krai Film Commission.

With consulting and informational support from Yenisei Kino.

The film’s plot is a dramatic and heartfelt story about a grandfather helping his grandson overcome his inner fears. The Siberian taiga—a place of strength and a place of overcoming—provides a vivid emotional and visual backdrop to the story.

For Vanya, this is a journey of growth, during which he learns courage, endurance, and respect for his elders. For his grandfather, it is an opportunity to pass on his accumulated life experience, not through preaching, but through personal example and collaborative work.

The film’s script was written by director Svyatoslav Vlasov over 10 years ago and lay shelved for a long time until it accidentally came into the hands of the producers. Filming took place in remote locations in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. To reach the locations, the crew used special vehicles from the Ministry of Emergency Situations—tracked swamp vehicles and all-terrain vehicles. A bronze medalist from the Russian Off-Road Truck Racing Championship was also engaged into transportation of the team. Filming took place in the Krasnoyarsk Stolby Nature Reserve, near the Manskie Rocks, and in the village of Pamyati 13 Bortsov.

The film’s producer is Yegor Shorokhov, a native of Igarka, Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Vladimir Gostyukhin, after reading the script, said:

«Yes, it will be very difficult for me, but this role feels like it was written just for me.» After receiving the award for Best Actor, he announced his retirement from the stage: «I’m not saying ‘goodbye,’ I’m saying ‘see you later.'»

In preparation for her role, Irina Pegova spent a lot of time interacting with the region’s residents to absorb their character and dialectic. Vsevolod Klimenok was one of the last candidates in the audition process, but during the in-person auditions, it became clear that he was the right boy for the team.

Vladimir Gostyukhin’s portrayal of the grandfather becomes one of the film’s key strengths. The actor creates a complex and multifaceted character, combining sternness and restraint with deep inner warmth. His character is a man of few words, but beneath his stern exterior, one senses a sincere desire to protect and guide his grandson, even if he can’t always express it in words. Gostyukhin’s performance deservedly won the Best Actor award at the Minsk International Film Festival, capturing a rare combination of strength, dignity, and humanity.

The film received a high professional award at the 31st Listapad International Film Festival in Minsk, where «My Grandfather» was awarded a special prize from the Union State for the development of spiritual, moral, cultural, and historical values.
