Vasya the Samurai will tell the story of Vasya, a Soviet Khakass soldier who, having been captured by the Nazis, finds himself in a ridiculous situation: he is mistaken for a Japanese. Being forced to impersonate a Japanese soldier, Vasya feels up both to survive and to try to capture a German military supply depot. The film promises to be rich in dramatic and comedic moments, uncovering the complex aspects of human nature in a war environment.
Famous Russian actors such as Amadu Mamadakov, Dmitry Mukhamadeyev, and Anton Zatsepin, as well as performers from the Krasnoyarsk Krai—Natalya Kuznetsova, Vladimir Myasnikov, and Ilya Leonov, are now on the film set. The film is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2025, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II. The whole team has been working like a Trojan to create a picture that will leave a large footprint in the history of Russian cinematography.
