Documentary Project “Galaktionovo” Wins Pitching Competition at “Message to Man” International Film Festival
Sofia Galaktionova, a second-year student at the College of Service Industries and Entrepreneurship, has emerged as a winner of the pitching competition at the “Message to Man” International Film Festival.
On October 21, the “Message for Tomorrow 3.0” pitching competition for documentary projects in production and post-production stages took place as part of the 36th “Message to Man” International Film Festival.
The competition received over 250 applications from all corners of the country, with only 13 projects making the final shortlist.
The documentary project “Galaktionovo” explores a village of the same name, founded in 1866 by Vavil Galaktionov.
The village itself serves as the main protagonist: its population has shrunk sixfold and houses stand empty, yet life goes on. Local residents continue their daily routines—working in the fields, tending to livestock, and gathering together. Through observing the community and exploring the memories of Georgy Galaktionov, who was born here, the filmmaker searches for an answer: why did all the Galaktionovs leave, while the remaining residents choose to stay?
We extend our warmest congratulations and express our immense pride in the achievements of our region’s young filmmakers. We wish them continued creative success ahead!
