“The Dad Who Lives on the Roof” Selected for the Non-Competition Program of the XIX East&West International Film Festival

A movie filmed in the Krasnoyarsk Region continues to conquer film festivals.

“The Dad Who Lives on the Roof”,a heartwarming story about friendship and family directed by Matvey Kipnis, has entered the non-competition screening of the XIX East&West International Film Festival “Classics & Avant-Garde”,which will take place in the Orenburg region from August 21 to 27, 2026.

The plot follows the reckless Alexey, who returns to his hometown from prison, where his wife and a 6-year-old son he has never known are waiting. The story has already won the hearts of audiences at festivals in Sweden, Moscow, and Nizhny Tagil.

As a reminder, this short film project won the pitch session at the IV International Forum of Filmmakers in the Krasnoyarsk Region in the fiction film category. Most of the filming took place in Krasnoyarsk. The primary locations included city streets, residential buildings, Teatralnaya Square, the central embankment of the Yenisey River, and other atmospheric spots across the city. Its premier in the Krasnoyarsk Region is scheduled for 2027.
