A Panel Discussion On Development of Documentary Cinema in the Krasnoyarsk Krai Took Place as Part of the 3rd SiberiaDOC International Film Festival
The Festival as a basis for dialogue
On December 1, a panel discussion entitled Development of Documentary Film in Krasnoyarsk Krai: Production Challenges and Public-Private Partnerships was held as part of the 3rd SiberiaDOC International Film Festival.
Leading representatives of the Krasnoyarsk krai’s film industry gathered in the State Universal Scientific Library to share relevant experiences and set out new directions for the industry’s development.
The discussion moderators were Nikolai Bem, director and producer of the SiberiaDOC film festival, and Vasily Nelyubin, director of the Institute of Film Industry at the Siberian Federal University, a member of the board of the Regional Cinema Support Fund, and a member of the Krasnoyarsk Krai Film Commission.
Irina Gennadyevna Belova, General Director of the Yenisei Kino Regional State Autonomous Cultural Institution, made a speech at the panel discussion, noting out the high demand for documentary cinema in the region. She cited the successful statistical growth of film distribution in the region as an example. As of November 2025, 22,000 viewers had already seen films produced under the Krasnoyarsk Krai Documentary Film grant program.
Also, among the speakers there were Director of the Dom Kino Larisa Antropova, Chair of the Perm Krai Union of Cinematographers Olga Averkieva, Director of the Siberian Studio of Independent Cinema Olga Kurbatskaya, Head of the Siberian Arthouse Cinema Ulyana Beletskaya, filmmakers and representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Krai Ministry of Culture. The heart of the discussion, mentioned by festival president and panel discussion moderator Nikolai Bem, became meaningful for each participant: “The Documentary Film Festival is an important foundation for dialogue, uniting everyone here with a single goal—to make cinema in the region something we can be proud of!”
Following the discussion, the speakers outlined current development vectors aimed at making documentary cinema even more accessible and relatable to audiences.
